Seedbombs Tanzania

What are Seed Bombs?

Seed Bombs are a simple propagation method of reforestation, reverse desertification, and no-till farming.

Seed Bombs were popularized by world-renown permaculture master Masanobu Fukuoka who created them for his successful reverse desertification campaigns in Japan.

Each bomb is made by rolling a seed into a small ball of soil, clay, and organic fertilizer which is thrown into nature to sprout and take root at its own pace.

This fast and reliable method of propagation has been successful in countries like India and Kenya.  Seed Bombs Tanzania plans to bring this simple reforestation technology to Tanzania and East Africa at large.

Philosophy

Seed Bombs Tanzania exists to propogate both trees and knowledge. It is our core belief that the simple methods we employ to plant trees at scale should be freely accessible to all who are interested. We know that bringing people together to learn and engage directly with seeds and trees will promote a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Inspiring the next generation of African leaders to care deeply about conservation is essential for our collective survival.

History

We orient ourselves around the essential principles developed by two inspirational figures in the world of conservation and permaculture.

Wangari Maathai was an influential environmental activist who won the Nobel Peace Prize for her substantial efforts in reforestation and Women’s rights in Kenya through her NGO, the Green Belt Movement.

Fukuoka Masanobu was an avid advocate of the importance of human connection with the natural world and popularized the Seed bomb method as a simple and efficient way of restoring wild forests.

We owe each of them a debt of gratitude for serving as guiding lights on our mission to preserve and encourage further biodiversity and sustainability in East Africa and beyond.
